Parenting is hard. Parenting kids with a history of trauma is harder. Adults who step up to open their homes and hearts to vulnerable children are dedicated people willing to face the challenges that come with this important, rewarding experience. In addition to parenting traumatized children who may present with emotional and behavioral, foster parents must cope with challenges related to:
- Ambiguity around concurrent planning
- Loss and grief when children are reunited with birth family
- Working with birth parents as part of reunification efforts
